Virgin Oak Finish is a vatting of lightly peated single malt whisky initially matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for several months at a lower ABV in virgin American oak barrels (with a range of toast and char levels).
Tasting Notes Caramelised sugar, leather and apples on the nose, good mouthfeel with pepper and fruit flavours on the palate and a smoky-sweet clove finish.
Nose Leather, caramelised brown sugar, bonfire toffee, cinnamon buns, vanilla fudge, banoffee pie, orchard fruit, boiled sweets, raisins and nutmeg.
Palate Milk chocolate, mace, sandalwood, peppercorn, cinnamon, prune, citrus zest, overripe bananas, orange marmalade, bitter black tea, cigar box, pistachio, raw honey, desiccated coconut.
Finish Crème brûlée, baked apple, fresh cherries, butter icing, toasted wood, smoke, mace and clove.
