The 2018 Reserva is pure Tempranillo fermented destemmed and matured in 50/50 French and American oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 18 months. It's serious and a little shy/austere, insinuating and subtle, perhaps reflecting the cooler year. The rain before the harvest might have diluted the wine a little, making it finer-boned. It has contained ripeness and integrated oak—it showed a lot less oak than the Crianza—and just a little development, revealing some incipient tertiary notes. It has 14% alcohol, which is a little lower than its siblings, a pH of 3.7 and 5.33 grams of acidity. It is a sleek, polished and fresher wine. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023. Grape: Tempranillo |
