The anticipated 3rd batch of GlenAllachie 21 Year Old comes after a year of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of master distiller Billy Walker's involvement in the whisky industry. This sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery was blended by Walker with whisky from three Pedro Ximénez puncheons. Only 2,400 bottles were produced at a cask strength of 51.5% ABV, with no added colour or chill filtration.
Nose: Dried figs, panforte, cocoa nibs, crumbly fudge, and a touch of star anise.
Palate: Plenty of sherry character, with sun dried raisins, spiced and toasted fruitcake, twists of waxy orange peel, and muscovado sugar.
Finish: Baking spices linger, along with toasted almonds.
