In just over twenty years, Ballechin, the second single malt produced by the Edradour distillery, has carved out a solid reputation among lovers of peaty whiskies. It must be said that its creator, in 2002, was none other than Iain Henderson, a seasoned master distiller and well-known figure on the island of Islay, where he ran the Laphroaig distillery for over fifteen years. Impressive in its precision and smoothness, this second version of the duo offered by Signatory Vintage reveals an omnipresent and insatiable peat. Its aromatic and flavor palette is full of floral, fruity, and chocolatey sequences that highlight its aging in a cask that once contained a high-class oloroso sherry. |
