Islay region is well-known for its unique and interesting whiskeys, and Big Peat Green Welly Stop Edition is a great example of it. Smoke notes permeate everything, starting with the nose, which also has hints of minerals and sweet fruit. The taste is mostly sour and bitter, offset a bit by fruitiness, and the finish is short and ashy. Big Peat Green Welly Stop Edition is an interesting whisky, and definitely worth a shot. This is a small batch (only 290 bottles) of blended Islay malt. Bottled by Douglas Laing, Big Peat includes an array of Islay single malt whiskies including malts distilled at Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore, and Port Ellen. It was bottled for the Green Welly Stop, a favourite spot for tourists on their way to the Scottish Highlands. |
