Dalmore King Alexander III

Elegance & regal in a bottle.

Creators of the King Alexander III Whisky

Dalmore distillery

Dalmore is one of the most well known Highland Single Malt whisky brands today, with its easily recognizable Royal Stag emblem seen in almost every bar in Singapore.

The distillery was established in 1839 by entrepreneur Alexander Matheson and later sold to Andrew and Charles Mackenzie in 1867 who then introduced the iconic 12-pointed Royal Stag Emblem.

Located in a small town called Alness in Scotland, Dalmore draws its water from the ricer Averon which runs through the little town. The waters of the river flow from Loch Morie, located deep in the heart of the Northern Highlands.

The King Alexander III Story.

According to Dalmore, particular whisky was crafted to "honour the act of saving Scotland's King in 1263".

The story goes that on a hunting expedition, King Alexander III was saved from a fierce stag by the first chieftain of the Clan Mackenzie.

This scene is beautifully showcased on the presentation box of the whisky.

What's special?

The final whisky is a result of the marriage of six different Dalmore whiskies. These uniquely selected whiskies are matured in:

  • Ex-bourbon casks
  • Matusalem Oloroso sherry wood
  • Madeira barrels
  • Marsala casks
  • Port pipes
  • Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques

These six differently matured whisky where then married to produce the King Alexander III that we know and love today! It is generally assumed that the youngest Dalmore of the six is between 12-15 Years.

Although some may look at the 40% ABV and scrunch their brows thinking that this means a dull-flavored whisky, they will find themselves pleasantly surprised. Leave this whisky in your mouth for a minute and let the flavors develop and you will be rewarded with a delicious array of flavors.
