Kavalan is a Taiwanese whisky distillery located in the Yilan County of Taiwan. It was founded in 2005 and has quickly gained recognition for its high-quality whiskies.
The distinctive taste characteristics of Kavalan's whiskies are a result of the usage of regionally produced components, including as barley from the Yilan plain and water from the Snow Mountain range. The whiskies are aged in a variety of barrels, such as former bourbon, sherry, and wine barrels, which gives them their unique characteristics.
The location for the distillery was chosen for its pristine natural resources, including the clean and abundant spring water from the Snow Mountain range and the high-quality barley grown on the Yilan plain. To bring the vision to life, the King Car Group brought in a team of experts from Scotland to help with the production of the whisky.

The Sherry Cask Solist is one of the most successful releases from Kavalan, winning a myriad of awards and accolades for its taste like the Gold medal in the 2020 International Spirits Challenge, Gold Outstanding in the 2019 International Wine & Spirit Competition & many others.

Taste Profile
Matured in top quality special edition Oloroso sherry casks, Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry is bottled at the distillery, without any colouring or chill-filtration. It is a naturally smooth and rich whisky with a complex character
Nose: Rich and fruity with notes of dried fruit, figs, dates, and raisins. There is also a hint of oak and spice.
Taste: Full-bodied and intense, with flavors of chocolate, toffee, and vanilla. The dried fruit notes are still present, along with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. The sherry cask imparts a sweetness and a touch of oakiness that balances perfectly with the whisky's natural flavors.
Finish: Long and warming, with a smooth and velvety finish. The dried fruit notes continue to linger, along with a touch of spice and a hint of tobacco.
