The Distillery
The Wire Works whisky series is produced by the White Peak distillery all the way in Derbyshire, England.
White Peak distillery was founded by Claire and Max Vaughan— using the very best of traditional whisky production methods alongside exciting cask types and malting techniques of the modern era, they create an interesting array of whisky made possible by this combination!
The distillery's facilities were actually taken over from a former Victorian wire works factory which was actually inscribed as a World Heritage site in 2001.
The Whisky
The name of the single malt range came pretty easy, as a homage to the previous occupants, the founders decided on the name Wire Works for the single malt series.
The series is underpinned by White Peak's unique heritage and made with a focus on flavor and proud Derbyshire provenance.
Wire Works first whisky was launched in February 2022 and met with great response, winning several awards for the distillery's various releases!
As quoted from the distillery: "Wire Works Whisky flavor is built upon our considered approach to whisky-making, resulting in a complex, well-balanced and lightly-peated spirit. The palate and nose deliver fruit forward notes, bonfire toffee and sweet vanilla, with a rich mouth feel and long finish."

Wire Works Caduro
This is the first core release of the Wire Works whisky series. Caduro is a lightly peated single malt, combining spirit matured in a selection of bourbon barrels, and the distillery's signature shaved, toasted, and re-charred French wine barriques.
This edition was bottled at 46.8%
Nose: Orchard fruit leads with crisp apple and candied citrus zest. Sweet Pear Drops and buttery fudge follow, joined by crushed almonds, vanilla cream, and roasted barley.
Palate: Layers of honeyed stone fruit and caramelised nuts are joined by hot cross buns, a touch of anise, and chocolate-dipped orange wheels. Creamy malt rests in the depths, with generous charred oak.
Finish: Subtle peat smoke wraps things up, while sweet, creamy notes of vanilla custard counter hints of gingery warmth.
Wire Works Virgin Oak Finish
This Virgin Oak Finish was made by taking a vatting of lightly peated single malt whisky initially matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and STR casks before it was finished for several months at a lower ABV in virgin American oak barrels with a range of toast and char levels.
This edition was bottled at 51.7% ABV.
Nose: Brown sugar, red apples, cinder toffee, and a little cinnamon as well as some leather.
Palate: Vanilla fudge, banana foam sweeties, dried fruit, and some chocolate emerge first followed by hints of marmalade, dates, lime zest, and a nutty element.
Finish: Sweet and slightly drying.
Wire Works Small Batch #6 Autumn Release
This edition was bottled at 47.7% ABV.
Nose: Green apples, pears, vanilla butter fudge, fruitcake, love hearts, orange, mixed peel, popcorn, burnt sugar, lime pickle, potpourri, lingonberry jam.
Palate: Tobacco, allspice, bitter orange marmalade, cereal. vanilla, liquorice, char, chocolate, sawdust, baklava, treacle tart, pistachio, marshmallow, lemon zest.
Finish: Nutmeg, mace, wisp of smoke.
