A 27 year old single cask from Glen Garioch, one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, bottled by Chorlton Whisky at cask strength. Only 167 bottles released, and well worth seeking out. Vanilla, honey and dried orchard fruits on the nose, with buttered madeleines, golden sultana, lemon zest and cinder toffee building into something rich and deeply complex. The palate opens with soft caramel and toasted oak, buttered sourdough and zesty green apple, with a gentle spice and coconut note from the long years in barrel. The finish is warm and persistent, citrus oils, toasted almonds and lemon tart lingering with quiet elegance. Distilled at Glen Garioch distillery, Highlands. Matured 27 years in a single second fill bourbon barrel. Single cask, 167 bottles. Bottled by Chorlton Whisky at natural cask strength, no added colour, no chill filtration.
