| This single cask bottling from Thompson Bros had an unusual journey via oak before bottling. It was matured for six years in an ex-sherry hogshead, two years in ex-oloroso octaves and the remainder of its life in an ex-sherry butt. This has imparted a rich and surprisingly restrained fruity character on the whisky, with aromas of cocoa powder, pecan pie, plums and caramelized ginger on the nose. | |
