Fine & Rare: The Emerald Isle

The opulent collection inspired by 'The Seven Wonders of Ireland'

Craft Irish Whiskey

The creator of The Emerald Isle is The Craft Irish Whiskey Co, an Irish whiskey producing company in Ireland. A relatively new company founded in 2018 by Jay Bradley, creating waves in the whisk(e)y world by becoming the most awarded new comapny of the year with a total of 32 awards in both taste and design categories for four of its releases.

Before The Emerald Isle, the company released The Devil's Keep, the most expensive debut whiskey in history, when a decanter sold at an auction for $60,000 in Texas!

Stored in a decked out display case that screams luxury, this whiskey is one of the finest ones made, with all 333 limited-edition bottles sold out!

That being said, its successor, The Emerald Isle would soon blow that figure out of the water!

The Experience Box

This incredibly opulent release is in partnership with the iconic jeweler, Fabergé in celebration of the 'Seven Wonders of Ireland'.

The rich shades of polished walnut contrast with the gold detailing around the experience box, where the glass of the doors, surrounded by embedded emeralds, reveals the craftsmanship and detailing of the bottle from any distance. Just like a work of art, this is meant to be seen, to be appreciated, to be displayed, and the entire design works around that premise.

The first luxury whiskey set of The Emerald Isle Collection sold at an auction for a record-breaking $2,000,000 (all proceeds from the first sale were donated to the Correa Family Foundation!) with subsequent sets released in exclusive events selling for over $3,000,000! Now, only two of the only 7 remain unsold.

Notable Collectibles

Each component of this masterpiece is crafted entirely by hand and put together to form a unique and timeless celebration of the luxury, craftsmanship and sophistication of a rare Irish whiskey collectible.

The multi-million dollar price tag not only entitles you to the bottle, it includes a couple of other rare collectibles! Included in the set are: the whiskey (duh!) encased in a premium decanter, two of  craft Irish whiskey's Finn glasses, a 24k gold water pipette, the world's first Fabergé Celtic Egg, a Fabergé watch, two ultra-rare Cohiba Grab Reserva VI Cigars with a gold-plated cigar cutter, a carafe of Irish spring water and a set of pure obsidian whiskey stones.

Not in the photo but also included in the set is the tasting log and hip flask of The Emerald Isle's rare whiskey.

The Fabergé Celtic Egg

One of the most notable pieces in the collection is definitely the Celtic egg by Fabergé. The Celtic egg was a piece skillfully handcrafted from 18k yellow gold by fourth-generation Fabergé Workmaster, Dr Marcus Mohr; who took over 100 hours to craft each of the seven eggs.

The piece was crafted to honor Ireland with the green, white and gold colors of the egg reminiscent of the Irish flag. Set with 104 brilliant-cut diamonds, the knot is a renowned symbol of Irish heritage and has no start or finish, representing eternity, love and friendship. In true Fabergé spirit, a surprise awaits in the form of a rough, uncut emerald, sourced from Gemfields’ Kagem mine in Zambia.

One-of-one Fabergé timepiece

Fabergé crafted seven different timepieces for each set, meaning each timepiece is different and one of its kind. Each unique dial has been crafted by Fabergé’s Workmaster, André Martinez. Encased in rose gold, with rose gold crowns and upper and lower sapphire crystals, the timepieces contain a self-winding automatic movement and a precious and rare 22k gold oscillating weight, decorated in the Fabergé style. As functional as they are exquisite, the watches are 41mm in diameter and water- resistant to 30-metres.

Each timepiece is numbered 1/1 to highlight the unique design, and finished with a brown alligator strap and rose gold buckle; the epitome of Swiss watchmaking.

Another rare item included are the two "Gran Reserva" cigars stored in a humidor within the experience box. The best Cuban tobacco leaves were selected after give years of care and laid in the skilful hands of Cohiba's expert Cuban cigar-rollers to create this exquisite Habano, made for the most distinguished smokers.

Tasting Notes

Tasting notes are taken from the official website over at craftirishwhiskey.com.

The whiskey was matured in American bourbon barrels for the first fill before being finished in rare 40L Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. After three decades of maturation, the whiskey is imbued with an unrivalled and unforgettable intensity of flavor!

Nose: Butter toffee and chocolate fudge are followed by a rich maple syrup. Hints of brine and tobacco come to the fore after time.

Palate: A powerful combination of old leather-bound books with a hint of tobacco smoke. Silky smooth, with some cherry drop notes interwoven with ripe banana and caramel. The back palate gives way to Christmas cake spices that flow flawlessly into the finish.

Finish: A wonderfully long and decadent finale with hints of creamy meringue and vanilla cigar smoke that slip into a lingering finish of spice and sweetened leather.
