The Story

This regal bottle was released in 2012, sixty years since Queen Elizabeth II sat on the throne of the United Kingdom.

The Diamond Jubilee was bottled exactly on 6th February 2012 precisely on the sixtieth anniversary of the accession, in a symbolic limited edition of sixty bottles – one for each year of Her Majesty’s reign.

These exceptionally mature and treasured whiskies were married in two small casks made with oak from the Royal Estate at Sandringham and laid down at the Royal Lochnagar distillery close by Her Majesty the Queen’s Balmoral Castle residence.

Profits from the sale of this whisky were donated to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, which funds world class training of craftsmen and women in traditional skills. John Walker & Sons pledged a minimum of £1 million to the charity.

The Bottle

John Walker & Sons has teamed up with specialist craftsmen and women, including fellow Royal Warrant Holders and QEST Scholars, to create exclusive, bespoke pieces to accompany the whisky.

"It's a huge privilege to work with them using all our resources and experience to craft a John Walker & Sons blend that's fitting for this special anniversary."
Jim Beveridge, Master Blender for John Walker & Sons on working with specialist craftsmen and women

What the Diamond Jubilee comes with

The whiskies are presented in a lead crystal decanter adorned with a Britannia silver collar that features a half carat diamond set by hand, and an individually numbered silver seal.

This will be accompanied by a pair of hand-engraved lead crystal glasses and a leather bound, personalized, hand-embellished artefact book, all housed in a bespoke cabinet incorporating woods from The Queen's Sandringham and Balmoral estates.

Tasting Notes

Jim Beveridge, Master Blender for John Walker & Sons said: "These are extraordinary grain and malt whiskies that have been maturing slowly since 1952.

The Diamond Jubilee by John Walker & Sons is gloriously complex, elegant and deeply evocative of a life well lived. A profoundly well-structured, unique whisky that is full of harmonious contradictions - considered maturity with joyous vitality, wonderful complexity and elegant simplicity, all captured within a single sip.

Nose: It has a clear, soft gold appearance and an intriguing nose that is velvety yet fresh.

Palate: On the palate it brings clear, light fruits over a cleansing sweetness which dries to vanilla and sleek tannins.

Finish: Seductive creaminess and spice follows, with a hazy memory of wood smoke at the finish. Jubilant and unforgettable.
