Monkey 47 Sloe Gin

The Monkey 47 Sloe gin is a peppery, tangy and complex spirit made by macerating Black Forest sloe berries in the Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin.

A hydropress is used to extract the liquid after the macerate is drawn out from the top. The  extracted liquid is then filtered several times before being added back to the macerate.

Water is then added to bring down the ABV to 29%.

Six weeks later, the Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Sloe Gin will then be bottled and ready to drink!

Here  are the tasting notes:

Nose: Very aromatic and complex nose. Huge fruit notes and quite a good deal of juniper too.
Palate: A mix of earthy, tangy juniper with rich, sweet red berries. Very refined and balanced. Hints of almond. Finish: Nutty, tart finish.

Monkey 47 Dry Gin

This is the best seller of the Monkey 47 series! The 47 in the brand name represents the 47 botanicals that create this unique gin, and also because it is bottled at 47% ABV.

Nose: Oh there is a lot going on here... woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Palate: Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Finish: Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
Overall: A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.
