A special edition whisky from Ben Nevis in celebration of their 185th year. It is an attempt at recreating the McDonald's Traditional Ben Nevis which was a popular dram in the 1880s.
This non-age statement single malt is a recreation of McDonald's Traditional malt, a popular whisky from Ben Nevis distillery in the 1800's. More heavily peated than modern Ben Nevis and predominantly matured in Sherry casks. This whisky combines sweet sherried fruit with thick bonfire smoke and savoury flavours of cured meat, pepper, clove, bitter orange, and woody spice. A full bodied and complex single malt.
Nose - Lots of spices, cinnamon and black pepper. Quite savoury and meaty with sweet sherry, ash and smoke. Seville orange peel.
Palate - A soft and oily mouthfeel. Oak, ash, barely sugars, porridge and pine needles with wonderfully sweet sherry.
Finish - A long, textured and sweet finish with sherry notes, sulphur and smoke enveloping.
