About the collection
Even non-whisky drinkers would have seen this Game of Thrones whisky series by Diageo that was released at the peak of the show's popularity.
It's been a few years since the release of this collection and yet not many whisky appreciators would have had tried this whisky release in its entirety!
Even though quite a few of the bottles in the series are non-age statement releases, they are not to be scoffed at, packing a great deal of depth and complexity.
Many might think that this is purely a release capitalizing on the popularity of the Game of Thrones series but we think its more than that; this time, Diageo put together a unique assortment of whiskies that matches up to the hype and fame of the TV series it was themed after.
Distinctiveness
Each and every bottle in the series stands out in a different way, highlighting the difference in manner between the various houses in the Game of Thrones series.
Take for example the House Tyrell (Clynelish) and House Stark (Dalwhinnie) bottles, both are from the Highland region yet differ in taste & style greatly!
The Clynelish Reserve is light and floral, like the Highgarden whilst the Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost features a signature honeyed sweetness and spicy warmth signifying the House Stark's loyalty and ability to thrive in intense situations.
All the bottles are unique in their own ways and that is what makes this release so special.
Objectively speaking, there are better releases from each of the distilleries but presented together, we feel that it is a great series to try but not to collect and finish (unless you are a die-hard fan of the series!).
